Early Morning in Dumaguete

Good morning from Dumaguete. The City of Gentle People. It is the 1st time ever that am blogging with the sound of ocean wavs splashing along a coastline. Yup, it our first morning here in Dumaguete.

According to the city’s website, the city is approximately 3426 hectares. The smallest barangay is Barangay 4 with an area of only 5.11 hectares, while the biggest barangay is Barangay Banilad with 362.71 hectares. Dumaguete City, classified as second class city, is the smallest in terms of Land Area.

Am looking at the coast and relaxing my eyes to feast on this morning sight. As far as my 47 year old eyes can see…I can see bright clouds and ocean.

The island of Cebu lies across the vast water in front of our room at the Wuthering Heights.

I can see Tito Lorenz and Tita Heidi warming up at the pier, that extends around 100 meters from the shore. Both are stretching the legs and arms as far as their muscles would allow it. Suddenly, I remember those scenes from “Karate Kid” with Mr. Miyagi teaching his protégé karate by the beach. Remember?

There are few “bancas” slowly moving around the ocean. Each “banca” has one fisherman. Am sure they are trying to get an early catch so they would have food on their table today.

Suddenly, I remembered Injong! Yes, my friend from DTI who is based here. Gosh, I need to find a way to contact him this weekend and say Hi. We were together in Japan for a two week training program back in February 1998. Nearly, ten years ago.

We all need calm and relaxing mornings like this. Only missing is a hot cup of coffee and that would be Figaro for Chief. Nescafe 3-1 would do.
